Ife Grillo is a writer, producer, performer, and educator based in Bristol. Ife’s work focuses on unpacking what it means to be human in an innovative and engaging way. His background as a campaigner and advocate informs a lot of his practice and he is currently a trustee for the NSPCC.
In 2019, Ife wrote and directed a play called Maya Says, which was shown in different venues in Bristol. They’re also a graduate of Soho Theatre’s Writers Lab. As a poet, Ife is a Hammer and Tongue National Finalist, a Roundhouse Youth Slam National Finalist and won the UK University National Poetry Championships in 2020. His one-man poetry show, Ode to Hero’s, was part of the UK Young Artist Festival in 2019. He has written and created audio, written and video content for companies including BBC Arts, SHADO Magazine and BBC Ideas. In 2021, he was Rife Magazine’s and Watershed Creator in Residence, where he wrote, produced, and performed in a video series looking at how our lives have been shaped by the pandemic. In 2021, he was one of the Co-Authors of Penguin’s Black Joy Anthology.
